Karuna
Make me an instrument of your peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy;
Grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Thank you for this prayer. I grew up with it, and i now, even though i dont consider myself catholic anymore, i carry it in my wallet and read it aloud to whomever caresto listen from time to time. Itnever fails to choke me up when i do!
Have you seen the film, Brother Sun, Sister Moon? it is about old St Frank as a young man and his conversion/awakening to enlightenment experience. Profoundand beautiful…Cat Stevens music throughout, its one of my top ten films of all times!
